Month of Iron Man

Well it looks like the month of Iron Man is here! We've got Rescue, IM3 Iron Patriot and Mark 42, it's awesome and... hey, wait a minute! What happened to Spiderman Noir?!?! Did they have a one day special sale?! Sigh.

Anyway, Iron Man Mark 42 was released and I got him, but I'm a bit busy so I don't know when my review will be up. It's a shame about Spiderman Noir though. I hope they figure out a way to release him somehow. And that Mysterio mission. I'm looking forward to Rescue, but all I have is 600 gold so if they make her 900 I won't be able to get her. :(

Sure is a crying shame about these raised prices, I remember when heroes used to be reasonable amounts of gold...

Anyway, look for more stuff coming your way shortly!
By the way, did anybody in the comments section see Iron Man 3? Did you enjoy it?
I saw it and I thought it was pretty good. :)

What-If: Thunderbolts - Week 4

The following post is fictional. None of the new characters or events described actually happened.

---

Yaaaay! All the heroes are released! I managed to snag a picture by convincing several other players to participate. Pretty awesome, huh? This happened right before I was about to spin the prize wheel to get the gold for Scourge.

Speaking of Scourge... :P

I purchased both Scourge and Ghost, (completing more challenges helped me get both of them).

Now my Thunderbolts collection is complete! :D

SCOURGE

EXPLORATION

Scourge's first power emote!

Scourge is so fun to play as, I managed to get him up to level ten TODAY! It's weird, I kept getting invited to missions and I spent a hundred gold coins on two Hero Up potions, just to level him up. This means I can guarantee that Scourge is a great fighter, but we'll get to that in a moment. For now, I just want to say that his exploration is sub-par, but due to his cool factor, (like so many heroes), I barely noticed.

I give his EXPLORATION a 3.9/5!

FIGHTING

Scourge is underpowered, unlike most of the Thunderbolts released this month, but at least he's a sniper, which makes it a lot less boring. His Hero Up is the same as his first power emote, where he blasts the ground, causing a tiny earthquake.

I give his FIGHTING a 4.2/5!

COOL FACTOR

Scourge is pretty cool. I like his mask and his coat, but the detail is kind of hard to see.
I give his COOL FACTOR a 3.7/5!

GHOST

Yay! It's Ghost! Ghost is one of my favorite heroes in the comics, but how does he compare in the game? Find out below!

EXPLORATION

Ghost floats while he explores the zones, so that's kind of cool. He's like Sentry. Flight, floats, but no double jump. Oh well. Still, it's cool to glide around the zones. :)

I give his EXPLORATION a 4.1/5!

FIGHTING

Ghost can shoot enemies with his electric guns, turn invisible, and my favorite part is that his first power attack lets him hack into robotic enemies and force them to be his allies for a brief period. It's awesome, and I can't wait to see what his other power attacks are!! :D

I give his FIGHTING a 4.7/5!

COOL FACTOR

Ghost is pretty cool, but I would have liked to see a bit of transparency, like in the comics. Also, even though he's skinny, he should be at least 20% thinner. :P

I give his COOL FACTOR a 3.9/5!

---

Well, that wraps up the Thunderbolts month! I wonder what will come in the future?

What-If: Thunderbolts - Week 3

The following post is fictional. None of the new characters or events described actually happened.

---

Penance was released today! Along with... wait for it... the Crossbones mission! Yippee!

First of all, I apologize for not being correct in my predictions for this month. My new guess is that Scourge and Ghost will be released next week. Yay! Hope I have enough gold to buy both of them...

Anyway, on to Penance!

---

PENANCE

EXPLORATION

Penance actually has a double jump, which surprised me, but was welcome nonetheless. :D
As you would expect, running around the zones with him is pretty fun, especially because of his cool factor and the fact that he's a new hero.

I give his EXPLORATION a 3.5/5!

FIGHTING

Today I fought as Penance for the Crossbones mission. He's slightly overpowered, especially for a week three hero, but it sure was fun running around, slinging spikes at skull-faced henchmen!
His Hero Up, where he unleashes all his spikes at once on enemies is really awesome, and is pretty well ranged.

I give his FIGHTING a 4.9/5!

COOL FACTOR

While I could've used a little more detail, the SHSO version is faithful to the comics, and that's good enough for me. I also received many new friend requests while playing as him. I managed to get him to level five, and his second power emote shows his cat, Niels, which is a nice nod to the comics.

I give his COOL FACTOR a 4.1/5! :D

---

THE CROSSBONES MISSION

OVERVIEW: The Crossbones mission takes place in an airplane hangar, which I'm not sure what is referencing but is cool anyway. The henchmen are all either male or female Skull-faced baddies. I would've liked more variety, but at least they didn't put the Nameless Ones in THIS mission like they do in so many others. Yeesh. What really shines in this mission, I think, is the boss battle.

Crossbones can call in his henchmen to help you, like many bosses, (i.e. Kingpin, Annihilus), which makes the boss fight trickier. But Crossbones actually has two stages to his fight. In the first stage, he is a sniper, shooting from far away, and you have to dodge him. In the second round, he comes down to fight you in person, which is about as fun as you'd expect.

All-in-all, I give this mission a 7.2/10!
And kudos for placing the mission in a new setting, rather then recycling an old one.

So that's it for this week! Tune in next week to see my reviews of Scourge and maybe Ghost! :D

What If: Thunderbolts - Week 2

The following post is fictional. None of the new characters or events described actually happened.

---

So today Radioactive Man and Moonstone came out! So it's time to redo my predictions.

So I rescheduled the calendar a bit in light of this new information...
I think Scourge may be coming with the Crossbones mission, and Ghost and Penance are coming later. It's either that or Ghost and the Crossbones mission, with Scourge and Penance coming later, OR it's Penance with the Crossbones mission, and Scourge and Ghost last. But I'll have to wait to see if this prediction comes true. I know my last prediction didn't. :P

RADIOACTIVE MAN

So, yeah! Radioactive Man! I'm glad I was able to get him, with yet another gold card. *sigh*

Radioactive Man-- I'll just call him "RM" for now-- Is pretty fun to walk around as, seeing as he is the only non-Hulk character I've seen so far that has the Hulk jump! It's pretty cool, and it makes exploring the Daily Bugle zone more fun then usual. I also played through a mission with him, and he's a bit underpowered for my tastes, but he's definitely worth getting just for the cool hood and his exploration, which is really good.

OVERALL: I give RM a 7/10! :D

---

MOONSTONE

Yes, I bought Moonstone, but I didn't have too much time to play as her, and only got through half a mission, so just a little warning that I might be slightly under informed. Moonstone has a boring standard locomotion system, so nothing too special there. But what I saw of her fighting is enough to make her worth the 600 gold. Also, she's essential to completing your Thunderbolts collection.
What really shines through in the missions, though, is her Hero Up, which is a short but powerful blast. You'd think you'd want a ranged attack, but with Moonstone, this Hero Up is actually better. The blast knocks over enemies and gets wider as it travels, so it's good for getting enemies ahead of you. :)

OVERALL: Moonstone shines in the missions, but her exploration is slightly lacking.
I give Moonstone a 8.5/10!
Now go add her to your squad!

Well, that wraps up week two of the Thunderbolts releases! Do you think I am right in my prediction for next week, or do you think I'm out of my mind? Whatever you think, leave a comment below!

SHSO What-If: Playable Villains in SHSO!

What if, in SHSO, you had the option of playing as villains as well as heroes? If so, what villains would come out around Halloween? Well, let's find out...

So today I noticed that on Super Hero Squad Online's Facebook page there were two mysterious teasers for the promised upcoming "Month of the Villains", where we finally will be able to play as the villains as well as heroes! I hadn't been able to log in yesterday, there was a huge amount of lag, but today I just had to get in to see the new characters so I tried over and over again and finally succeeded.
The new characters were available in the store, and I bought both of them to review for this blog...

So let's see, it's time for a Hero Review of Carnage. You'll notice he's already level five. That's because I played three missions with him as well as got all his hero tokens. I also had a few left over Hero Up potions for Hobgoblin and him, and I just HAD to see his second emote.

---

So, yeah, Carnage. Pretty scary for a kid-friendly game, but they toned him down a lot like they did with Punisher.

EXPLORATION

Carnage has one of the coolest set-ups in the game right now, one of my favorites if not my favorite.
He doesn't have a double jump or anything but what stands out is his "flight."
He flies by shooting those spider-venom strands out of his hands and pulling himself up onto buildings.

It's really unique and makes you look really cool.

I give his EXPLORATION a 4.7/5! :D

FIGHTING

I didn't get a picture of him fighting, sadly. The game was too laggy today and I thought that if i took a picture it might crash. BUT ANYWAY... his fighting style resembles Spiderman's a lot, but a bit faster. It's generally unimpressive, and though his Hero Up is unique, (strands of venom-webbing slither out of him and wrap enemies in cocoons), it takes a bit too long for my taste.

I give his FIGHTING a 3.9/5!

COOL FACTOR

Carnage makes a frightening sight roaming the city, and his unique mode of EXPLORATION is pretty cool. He has a funny and pretty cool second power emote where he writes, "Carnage Rules!" on the ground. His overall look could still use some work, though.

I give his COOL FACTOR a 4/5! :D

OVERALL: Overall, Carnage could use some work, but he is a good, solid choice for fans of the new "Month of the Villains" theme SHSO is going for.

---

And now a somewhat shorter review of Hobgoblin, (my computer crashed while I was taking pictures of him so there aren't too many pictures).

EXPLORATION

Hobgoblin, like Carnage, can not jump, but he can fly using his glider. It's fun, and feels faster then it really is.

I give his EXPLORATION a 4.7/5! :D

FIGHTING

I only got in one mission with Hobgoblin, but it was enough to tell that he will be fun to max, just because of his fighting style. He throws pumpkin bombs, weird ghost-type things that explode into nets, and all sorts of other tricks. His Hero Up, where he flies around on his glider, smashing into people, is awesome, fast and powerful.

I give his FIGHTING a 4.5/5! :D

COOL FACTOR

Hobgoblin isn't the coolest villain around, and I would have preferred it if he could be on his glider the whole time, like Silver Surfer.

I give his COOL FACTOR a 2.5/5!

Well, I guess that wraps up my reviews for today.
Tune in next week when the "Month of the Villains" continues, this time with playable versions of Sandman and Apocalypse! :D

So hi again, this time in the real world! I'm sorry this What-If took so long to complete, I had a ton of other projects, I was busy, etc. I'm glad you guys voted the What-If on my "What Should My 100th Post Be About?" poll, otherwise I might have never been spurred into action!

In other news, I got my other poll voted on as well... looks like I have my work set out for me, modeling, texturing, rendering and compositing the Thunderbolts and Runaways!

Look for the awesome Behind the Scenes of this What-If soon!
Also, today I'll be releasing a review of the new mission, Creatures of the Night!

So yeah, sorry for the lapse in news, I'll try to catch up with everything that's REALLY going on in Super Hero City!

Bye for real!

A Big Update!

Okay, so I woke up a bit later then usual and I got on the computer... and saw THIS! :D

Yay a new website! Yay Gambit is prominently featured! :D
They have yet to fix a few bugs with images on their site, but for the most part I'm happy. I'm also sad, because as far as I can tell, they deleted their "Game" page which had the awesome 3D views of heroes. Sigh. Anyway, so I downloaded the new game files, which, by the way, don't seem to need to be verified anymore, and as I was coming in I saw their "new" loading screen.

Uh, that was last Halloween's loading screen. You know times are tough when they don't even have the time to make a cool new loading screen. Sigh. I prepared for a short post on the blog today about the new website, but as soon as I got into the game I saw... THIS! :D

YAAAAY! I quickly checked to see how much gold it had, and if I could afford to buy her. So it turns out... I could! Though I now only have 300 gold or something. :P

So anyway, let me talk about the new Halloween themed Daily Bugle zone, (because I talk about Hope in THIS new post)!

So there are these small photo booth type, well, booths for lack of a better word. Going in them lets you get a new, Halloween themed head! There are also more booths in the Baxter Plaza zone, by the way.
My favorite secret of all, the one I missed most, was the graveyard secret!

You know where the fountain is in the Daily Bugle zone? Well, go to your left and you'll be in the graveyard! There's an old house in the graveyard, I wonder what's in it?

Ah, the room of Dr. Strange! What happens if you sit in the chair?

Ooh, now you're a ghost!

...Anyway, Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, and SHSO celebrates it right! Check out the Daily Bugle zone and the Baxter Plaza zone for more secrets and surprises! Gee, am I sounding like a children's magazine or what? Guess it's time to move on...

---

Ugh. Try to figure out from the image what has changed for the worse.

...did you guess? No? Well, it's that new "30 silver" slot instead of the "40 silver" slot. No, they didn't add a few 30 silver slots where we needed them, like in place of a few ten silver slots! NO! They put it in place of a silver slot that turns into 20 GOLD! ARRRGH!
Now you only get 15 gold from that spot! This means that instead of 150 gold, which is a nice, rounded number, you get 145 gold! WHHHHHHYYYYY?!

Okay, on to the other bad news.

What the heck is wrong with Blogger? I know I'm not THAT unpopular!
I'm kidding. I know this is some sort of glitch because just the other day I looked at the poll and seven people had voted. Unless they withdrew their votes, which I'm not sure why they would do. Or maybe it was one person on seven accounts, and Blogger detected it and refused to register the votes.
It doesn't really matter, because the point is that my other poll, the one about my 100th post, ALSO closed with no votes! Remember, it's my 100th post! It's important! That's why I'm resetting these polls! Look for them in the side bar.

Anyway, to brighten this post a bit, I have a totally awesome new code for you guys! For people wishing to start a new account, they can add this code and get a free two week membership or something like that! :D

MJR11

On a final note, I can finally say goodbye to Blade, who I just recently maxed. Goodbye, Blade. :(

And that pretty much wraps up this post! Be sure to check out my review of Hope Summers too! :D

An Enormous Update

Downloading this morning took WAAAAY too long. Fortunately, there was a reason. Loki had taken over the Daily Bugle zone and the Baxter Plaza zone!

Loki now has control of three zones! Gadzooks!

Not only that, but Avengers Thor was released today for 600 gold, and I bought him faster then you could say "God of Thunder!"

Unfortunately the steep price of Iron Man was too high for me, at least for today, but I will be getting him soon.

Aw man! Maybe next week! :(

See those damaged bricks? The Daily Bugle zone is in chaos!

I must say, the computer graphics guys at the Amazing Soceity are really good! They managed to really make it seem like a gigantic battle had taken place!

Baxter Plaza isn't looking too good right now either! There are S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents everywhere, and the Casket of Ancient Winters has been opened, freezing everything and everyone!

Maria Hill? Or just a random female S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent?

Speaking of the Casket, there's a new mission!

And yeah, it's awesome.

Yeah. It's incredible. Just go play it for crying out loud! It's amazing, spectacular, and ultimate!
And now, for my Thor review.

Avengers Thor

---

EXPLORATION

Thor is his usual, flying, normal jumping self. I wish they had added something new, like a double jump, but a fanboy can only dream.

I give his EXPLORATION 2.2/5

FIGHTING

Thor has normal speed, powerful attacks. I won't deny how fun it is to smash through baddies as Thor! His power up is like Cap's, and I'm willing to bet that most if not all new Avengers characters will have similar Hero Ups.

I give his FIGHTING 3.5/5!

COOL FACTOR

This Thor is my favorite out of all of them so far. His armor looks awesome, (loving the chain-mail!), his hammer looks awesome, (loving the metallic surface!), even his boots look awesome for nordic god's sake! Just go get him already! :D

I give his COOL FACTOR 4.1/5!

Some other small updates!
For one, Spiderman has a new voice! While it may be disconcerting at first, I got used to it pretty quick. Second, thanks to you guys, I will be publishing my review of The Avengers on this blog! Stay tuned for that on Friday or Saturday, but probably Saturday.
