What If: Thunderbolts - Week 1

The following post is fictional. None of the new characters or events described actually happened.

---

Big news today! The new loading screen for the month of December is... the Thunderbolts!
I've been waiting for these guys to come out for a really long time, and I'll bet you were too, so let's get right to it, shall we?

First of all, right upon entering the store in SHSO I was greeted by Swordsman and Songbird, who were both released today! It looks like the Thunderbolts are being released two each week, or two things each week. I rigged up a little diagram here...

So my guess is that Radioactive Man and Ghost are next, since it seems like they're saving the best for last by getting Swordsman and Songbird out of the way. The third week is usually the time they release the mission, and my guess is that they'll wrap up the month with Scourge and Penance.

But ANYWAY... on to what you're probably waiting for... SWORDSMAN!

I was able to buy him and Songbird just as they came out, thanks to the power of buying gold. :P
I'm probably going to have to buy even more gold, since I'll want all the new Thunderbolts plus the new Crossbones mission. I don't really have the time to write two reviews for Swordsman and Songbird, but I can give brief reviews. I tested both of them out by doing a few missions today, so I'm ready to review.

SWORDSMAN

So you'd think Swordsman would be a boring, underpowered hero, right? WRONG!
He actually is pretty awesome. Not only does he have the "Hawkeye double jump", (it's a double jump without a flip), which makes running around missions with him more fun then it would be if he were a boring standard locomotion system hero. As far as fighting goes...

He's awesome! Apparently, Swordsman's sword can shoot out bioelectric energy, so he can take out large groups of enemies really easily. His Hero Up is a spinning attack that lets you guide him to damage enemies, like Jean Grey. (I know there's a hero that has a similar spinning attack, but I can't think of it right now).

Anyway, overall, I give Swordsman a 8.5/10! :D

SONGBIRD

Songbird was formerly known as Screaming Mimi, and Screaming Mimi actually appears in the SHS tv show. Anyway, I knew I had to get her too so I bit the bullet and purchased the gold necessary to buy her.

Songbird has some of the coolest attacks this game has to offer, creating objects out of thin air with the power of sound. Is it just me or is that awesome? Her hero up is especially impressive, a particularly loud scream that works well with large groups of enemies, however I prefer her first power emote better, where she creates wings out of solid sound and flaps them, blowing away enemies.

While I don't care much for her standard locomotion system, I'm happy to trade it for those awesome fighting moves!

I give Songbird a 9.7/10! :D

---

Well, that's it for this week! Tune in next week for my reviews of Radioactive Man and Ghost!
If it turns out that my prediction is right, of course. ;)

Avenging Rogue Released

Okay, obviously I don't have enough to buy Avenging Rogue, which is why, once again I cannot give a review. :(

But... I can tell you about the new Challenges that were just added!

I decided I would find out what they meant by turning into an Eye-Bot, so I went to Villainville, where Eye-Bots are plentiful.

At first I couldn't tell what to do, and I wandered all over the zone for a while. But after some time had passed, I slapped my forehead because the answer was really obvious...

D'Oh! Now that I knew where to go, it was time to go there.

It's awesome that these guys made a new room for the zone! :D
After pressing a button on the control panel, my hero walked into an elevator of sorts.

I popped out a few seconds later as an Eye-Bot! Awesome! Actually, more accurately, I believe the "Control Room" lets your hero control an Eye Bot, they don't actually become one, but maybe that's nitpicking the details. It was fun to wander around as an Eye-Bot. One thing to note about this challenge is that they don't let you go back to being a hero for a while-- I would say about two minutes.
That's what makes this challenge a bit tricky, but compared to some of the other time consuming ones, it's a walk in the park!

And that's all for today, unfortunately. However, on December 3rd I will be releasing the first teaser for my Thunderbolts What-If! And, don't forget that the actual What-If post will be published on the 5th, quickly followed by the Behind the Scenes for that What-If on the 6th!

See my previous post for a calendar with the full schedule.

You've Been Polled!

I polled you, you answered!
And now, a startling announcement. If you voted on something on this poll that wasn't as voted on by others, never fear! I am going to do ALL FOUR of those things on the poll in my new Thunderbolts What-if!

Remember, in the month of December, there will be a new Thunderbolts What-If post every week!
The outline is below.

Mondays will have a teaser post, Wednesdays will have the actual What-If post, and then Thursday will have the Behind the Scenes for that post!

No worries, just because the What-If is spread out over a month doesn't mean the posts will be lacking. They will all, individually be normal What-If length.

Tell me what you think of the schedule in the comments!

More News!

So there's a new developer blog post that mentions the X-men Rouge we saw in the mission image in my previous post, and that Havok will be making an appearance as well! There is also a sale going on that will end with the temporary absence of twelve heroes, namely American Dream, Captain America, Super Soldier, Classic Thor, Emma Frost, Gladiator Hulk, Luke Cage, Pure Elektra, Spider Girl, Spider Woman, Thor, Valkyrie and Wasp. I can understand this, after all the store is rather hard to navigate with all the heroes that have been coming out, so it makes sense that they'd try to get people to buy more gold while they simultaneously figure out how to make the store easier to navigate, seeing as lately it's kind of like a catalogue. However, I'm saddened by the chance of never seeing this heroes again, even though it's a slim chance and I'm willing to bet they'll be back by February. :P

Let's hope they come up with an awesome new way to peruse the store! :D

Indestructible Hulk Released!

I got into the game at last! Yay! And look who was waiting for me...
Indestructible Hulk! Unfortunately, he's Agents-Only, so I can't get him. :(

However, I CAN get the new mission, so I did.

You start the mission off with a greeting from a new Rouge, who looks awesome. I wonder when she'll be released, and if they're ever going to release Morbius?

Anyway...

So the whole mission is just you running through a subway, defeating various villains. It's actually pretty fun. I got the Crisis Edition, and I'm not sure how it differs from the normal version yet, but I died multiple times, so yes, it's hard.

OVERALL: I give this mission a 8/10!
You'de think running through the subway would get repetitive, but facing off against multiple villains adds variety.

Now I'm off to find three other players to play this mission with!

Crisis Edition Announced

I haven't gotten into the game yet today, so i have yet to play the Crisis Edition mission. I wonder what it means? In the meantime... rumors have been confirmed and Industructable Hulk is next in line to be released! Stay tuned for my playthrough of the mission, and more, coming soon on this blog!
