Mission Review: Wen-Di-Go Away

The latest mission is "Wen-Di-Go Away", and I finally got into the game, so now I can review it!

STAGE GAMEPLAY

Wen-Di-Go Away introduces one sort of new mechanic into SHSO's missions: by clicking on tikies you can stun all the enemies on the screen, and deal them a small amount of damage. This is probably more useful if you're playing it with friends then if you're soloing. Now I know it's not an entirely new mechanic-- there have been enemy stunning gadgets before, like in a Skrull mission, (can't remember which one), and of course in Ock it to Me. But you have to admit that there never has been an enemy stunning tiki before! Aside from the tikies there wasn't much else that we haven't seen before.. and what little there was is discussed next section!

Overall, I rate the STAGE GAMEPLAY a 3.1 out of 5. It's fun, but for the most part it doesn't introduce anything new.

ENEMIES

The new mission features one new set of enemies: the wendigos! The wendigos were a fresh take on enemies, similar to Moloids, at least size-wise. The wendigos also could summon ghostly versions of Loki, (not the Avengers Loki, though), and Enchantress. Some frost giants snuck in too.

Overall, I rate the ENEMIES a 3.7 out of 5. It's cool that there are new enemies, but they reused some old ones too.

THE BOSS FIGHT

The boss of this mission is the wendigo himself! Wait-- weren't we fighting wendigos the entire mission? Ah, but this is a BIGGER wendigo! This large wendigo packs quite a punch-- I got K.O.ed as Avengers Hulk and that almost never happens. However, at the press of a button conveniently located on the boss stage, you can summon Indestructible Hulk, who'll distract the wendigo for a bit while you go grab health. Luckily, this new mechanic doesn't feel too weird, and the fight goes the usual way otherwise.

I rate THE BOSS FIGHT a 3 out of 5! It brings in one new thing while keeping a lot of old things.

RE-PLAYABILITY

Will I go on this mission again? Sure! It's a new Asgard mission, it's fairly short on a powerful hero, and there are some new enemies.

OVERALL

Adding up all my scores for an average proclaims Wen-Di-Go Away is a 3.2 out of 5!

Well, aside from this mission, there's other news as well! The blog SHSO Team Awesome posted a post with exclusive pictures of, wait for it... GOLIATH! And they gave away a free code, which I can verify definitely works. So for all that and more, click this link to see SHSO Team Awesome's post.

Until next time.

Mission Review - Doc Ock

It's time for... my new Mission Review!

Today I'll be reviewing... Ock It to Me!

Things to Watch Out For:

There's not much, except the usual blue and grey ockbot at the end of stage two. As mentioned before, just pick up an object and throw it at them, or try to stun it, to defeat that annoying ockbot!

Boss Tips:

This battle with the doc is MUCH easier then the other one. Just wait until he's in the yellow circles, then walk onto the switch in the center to weaken him! Watch out for Otto's Instant KO, though!

Difficulty Rating: 3.5/10

Summery:
This mission is easier then the doc's other mission, but it is made harder by the instant KO and the blue and grey ockbot. Because of those threats, this mission is a 3.5!

Next Week: Modok, Mo Problems!

Sunday Mission Review - Sabretooth

It's time for... my Sunday Mission Review!

Today I'll be reviewing... Home Invaders!

Things to Watch Out For: There are three things to worry about in this short mission. Three BIG things. Namely, the Sentinels.

These massive robots appear roughly halfway through the mission. I find the only way to defeat these guys is to constantly run behind them, dodging their attacks, and quickly clicking to hit them with one little attack before ducking behind them again. After you get a full five stars, you can use your hero up to effectively destroy the 'bot.

Boss Tips:

Best.

Cutscene.

Ever.

When I first started out in this game it took me FOREVER to learn how to beat Sabretooth without dying, (I was a REALLY WEAK Cyclopes), but it turns out there is a trick to it: Sabretooth stops and laughs for eight seconds, and his attacks usually aren't powerful enough to stun you once you get into your combo. If worse comes to worse, it's usually pretty easy to run away from his leaping attack.

Difficulty Rating: 4.5/10

Summery:

A short, rather easy mission, Home Invaders ranks 4.5 out of ten, mostly due to three Sentinels and a particularly annoying attack that Sabretooth has.

Next Week: Bombs Away!

Sunday Mission Review - Annihilus

Once again it is Sunday, and once again I'll be reviewing a mission!

Today I'll be reviewing... Repellent Bugs!

Things to Watch Out For: A couple of times, a white and red insect appears in the first and second stages. The insect is harder to defeat then the others, but if you stun him early on and start your combo there shouldn't be a problem. Originally, they had those big blue and brown robots in this mission, but they replaced them with these red and white insects. I'm actually really glad... now if they just replace those creepy purple guys in the Mole Man mission with people that actually belong there!

Boss Tips:

Annihilus has to be one of the easiest bosses in the game. In one of his attacks, he actually doesn't follow you with his laser, (or whatever it is), fire, he just floats there firing at one spot! He also has an "attack" quote unquote where he crouches down in a circle of light, only to spring back up. Unfortunately for Annihilus, he's crouches down for a considerable amount of time, allowing you to attack him. And even though he says "You can't hurt me!" while doing the attack, you CAN hurt him. My advice: Keep your distance, and go in for the kill during his sunburst attack. If you're playing on a team, identify who is attacking the boss, and go for the minions, and if nobody is attacking the boss, go for the boss.

Difficulty Rating: 3/10

Summery: Annihilus may be easy, but he has a few attacks, like a whap from his baton that deals 50+ dmg, that bump this mission up to a three.

Next Week: Home Invaders!

Sunday Mission Review - Doctor Octopus

Once again it is Sunday! It is also the first day of April! :D

Today I'll be reviewing... Claw and Disorder!

Things to Watch Out For: At the end of the first two stages, a blue Ockbot appears. This Ockbot is incredibly dangerous, shooting you with green lasers which cost you 15 dmg each. Run away from the lasers and throw an object at the Ockbot to shut it down, then run in and start your Combo Attack.

Boss Tips:

As long as you stay away from him, Otto's attacks aren't very effective. Once you learn the patterns, you know what to do for each attack, (except for his instant K.O. attack which is extremely unfair and hard to dodge). When he reaches out with one of his tentacles to grab you, dodge it and go around to his back. He will turn and start to beat down with his tentacles. Once again sidestep and start your attack combo. After a few rounds of this, he'll down into his "weak" state. Here is where I would recommend using your Hero Up. After that, just rinse and repeat.

Difficulty Rating: 6/10

Summery: Thanks to the blue Ockbots and Otto's instant K.O. attack, this mission gets bumped up to a six. However, it is one of the easier missions, and at an unbeatable price of one hundred silver, it is a worthwhile buy.

Next Week: Annihilus!

Sunday Mission Review!

Today is Sunday, and it's time for my weekly mission review! Every week I plan to write about tips on the boss fights, things to watch out for, and, of course, the overall difficulty rating.

Today I'll be reviewing... Abomination Obliteration!

Things to Watch Out For: On Stage 2 there's an area that's partially submerged. Four Hydra agents will drop down behind you and trap you. I've died there several times because I found I was trapped and realized too late that there were enemies behind me. Don't make this mistake, and immediately turn around.

Boss Tips:

Abomination is an easy boss because of his Charge attack, which stuns him and is easy to dodge. Follow closely after him. If you haven't already, throw the rubber ducks at him while he's stunned from a distance. If you are attacking him, unless you're on a ranged hero like Jean Grey or Iron Man, run away quickly before his other attacks knock you out.

Difficulty Rating: 4.5/10

Summery: This mission may look hard at first, but once you know you're way around the boss fight, it gets easy. This mission is a bit long for me, I'd probably choose a Green Goblin mission or Annihilus just because they go by so fast. If you smash through the stages quickly on a nice, quick hero like Daredevil, Classic Daredevil, Captain America Super Solider or Hulk, you'll probably get Adamantium.

Next Week: Doc Ock!
