Green Goblin Announced!

Looks like we'll be getting to play as Green Goblin! Can't wait to fly around on his awesome glider! The fact that it's included in his image definitely indicates we'll be flying around on it.

So I guess this means we'll definitely be getting to play as Annihilus and Avengers Loki! Sweet!
Now what's up with that Spiderman in the corner?! Is he the Spiderman in the game right now? If so, why'd they put him there? Does this mean they'll be getting rid of the original Spiderman from the store? Or is he... *shudder* ...Ben Reily 2?! D:

Here's my predictions for May!
Note: These are my predictions for how they will release heroes and villains, and may not be totally accurate, considering that they could just as easily release all the villains next and save the rest of the heroes for last. The predictions in blue are he ones that I think they will be more likely to choose.
Also, they could release all these guys on Wednesdays or Fridays but I'm picking Thursday because it's in between.

Well, that's about it!
And let's hope that that isn't Ben Reily 2.

Ends of the Earth Spiderman: Hero Review

Welcome to the first thorough and complete hero review! Most of my reviews so far has been pretty casual as far as how in-depth I went to review the heroes. However, lately I've been away from the game a little, and while I was I decided it was time for a proper hero review.
I purchased the $20 gold package, (see post below for details), and purchased Ends of The Earth Spiderman!

I ran through the Green Goblin boss fight, the Venom boss fight, and the Lizard mission, (all Spiderman enemies, hee hee), to gather information about his "FIGHTING".

Anyway, here's the review!

---

DETAILING

There are tiny rivets on his arms, rings of black on his fingers, and tiny "ribs" on the sides of his chest. EOTE Spiderman has some of the best detailing I've seen in the game, aside of course from Avengers Ironman.

I give EOTE Spiderman's detailing a 9/10!

EXPLORATION

EOTE Spiderman does not have standard exploration by any means. He can jump normally, swing through the air on a spider silk thread, crawl up walls, or use his jetpack!

Look! Up in the sky! It's Spiderman! It's Ironman!
No! It's Ends of the Earth Spiderman!

EOTE Spiderman's walk/turn/jump/swing animations are all smooth and fluid, without any awkwardness, and the transitions between them are subtle and feel right.

I give EOTE Spiderman's exploration a 10/10!

FIGHTING

EOTE Spiderman has a great combo chain. It's fast and it isn't overpowered. His Hero Up, which coincidentally has a great reference to the comics where he shoots balls of webbing, is similarly fast.
His first power up damages and freezes enemies for around five seconds, giving you time to take care of big bosses or more dangerous henchmen, tactical-wise.

I tried to count the damage points deducted from enemies in his combo chain and I believe it's 4-6-14-21-39. Like I said, not overpowered, but fast enough that it makes up for it's lack of power. I was able to get adamantium on the Venom boss battle, and I NEVER get adamantium on the Venom boss battle.

I give EOTE Spiderman's fighting a 8.2/10!

COOL FACTOR

Like a boss.

What more could you ask then for a Spiderman repaint by the way of Tony Stark that also happens to tie in to a comic storyline?

What more is there to say?

I give EOTE Spiderman's cool factor a 9/10!

OVERALL

Overall, EOTE Spiderman is the way repaints should be done. Don't just change up the colors and slap a new name on it! Here's to more quality repaints in the future!
My only complaint is that he wasn't released alongside Iron Spider, who I originally confused him with.

I give EOTE Spiderman a 9/10 overall!

---

Well, that about wraps it up for my Ends of the Earth Spiderman review!
Keep a look out for my new Playable Villains What-If Bonus and another What-If coming your way.
This time, I'm going to focus on quality over quantity and get this next What-If looking great, with only a few characters and only two posts, rather then the eight posts I've been doing recently.

Until next time!

The Month of the Mutants Has Arrived!

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!

First of all, I'm pretty excited. I know this may be old news for many of you, but I only just got into the game today and saw this truly awesome loading screen for the first time!
Look at it! Wow! I may have to become a member just to get Spider-Man Noir! (Or purchase gold).
This raises the quenstion: who is going to be Agents-Only on this loading screen? I'm betting for Noir, (I really hope not, though, because I'd like to stay a non-member and get him by buying gold).

In the meantime, I'll be eagerly awaiting Iron Spider and Spiderman Noir, and I may actually get them when they first come out just because they are so awesome!

By the way, my poll has been completed, thanks for voting! Playable Villains will be getting a much needed update!

-- SHSOFan.

Postscript: I made a small error in my post yesterday that has hence been fixed. I said the Venom Mystery Box was 600 gold when it was actually 200 gold. I was relying on information I had found on SHSO's Facebook page because I could not get into the game at the time.

I hope I didn't confuse anyone!
Thanks to Wanda Quan in the comments section for pointing that out to me. If you see any other errors be sure to tell me so I can fix them as soon as possible, in the comments section below.

Squirrel Girl Released!

At long last, Squirrel Girl is released! This almost makes me want to get a membership, but re-"member" that I need to max out every hero I have currently to get one. Right now I'm on Hawkeye, but because my computer is slow I'm having trouble getting into the game every day.

But I'm working on getting a new computer soon, hopefully one that will be faster, and then I'll be able to review the newest heroes for you guys.

Werewolf is Back for 1 Day!

Apparently, Werewolf of the Night has instantaneously poofed into existence again-- but this time for one day only. I missed getting him the first time, (not enough gold), and I'm probably going to miss him again, but I'm not worried. The fact that he's shown up at all, barely within three months of his debut, proves that it's not the last time we'll get to see his furry face. I'm hoping that SHSO gets the hero section of the shop organized in a new way so that they can bring back those old heroes, and make the others easier to find.

The one big problem they face is: how do you organize them? Alphabetically? (Probably too confusing, it'd be too much like an index). The way I'd do it is a hub interface, where you can see the new releases by clicking a button, (with the new hero's icon so you know who's come out), and then once they're old news they get sorted into their various teams. Inside the team "folders", repaints would be stacked into separate hero "folders".

When you design video-games, (yes, I do know a bit about this), one of your goals is an easy user interface. With this method, you would only have three folders to open at most: Team/Hero/Repaint. It's simple and would work better then scrolling through SHSO's many heroes. Just to be clear, I love that they have a lot of heroes, and that they've actually included more obscure heroes such as Morbius, (bet Dazzler's next!), but unless they come up with a good system for organizing the shop, it's going to be harder and harder to browse, and they'll keep archiving heroes temporarily and then flashing them back at us for brief periods of time. My guess is that they're doing this to distract us while they work on a great new system of organization, so let's keep our fingers crossed for the folks at Gazillion!

Some News

So first of all, I can confirm that Future Foundation Doctor Doom is 900 gold, and it appears as though he'll only last half a week more at least so get him now if you have the gold! (I'm certain that another opportunity to purchase him will present itself soon).

Also, thank you for voting on my little poll! I know you guys want more What-Ifs, so which one should be the next one? Vote in the NEW poll for what you'd like to see!

I'll go over the different choices in detail for you here:

TDKR Batman What-If
Now, I know that the previous TDK Batman was a ton of work, but it also didn't capture Batman's movie version as well as it could have. So, if you choose this option, I'll re-model Batman in SHSO, and feature Catwoman beside him and feature Bane as the villain, along with the Tumbler! :D
If this happens, I will be making a VIDEO, not a post, about the What-If, and there will be a new Gotham City zone in the video, besides all of this other crazy stuff. ;)

Justice League in SHSO
Do you want to see Wonder Woman fight alongside Batman, Superman, and a few lesser known leaguers such as Martian Manhunter and Hawkman and Hawkgirl? I know I would! This What-If would take the approach of my Thunderbolts What-If, with multiple weeks showcasing each new hero.

New Zones
I know I promised this before, and now here's your chance to see it! If you choose this option, I'll put up a poll where you'll vote which zone you would most like to see in the game, and then I'll choose it and two runners-up and model three zones, with a new character that you guys vote on it all of them, for scale. This What-If would take a distinctly different approach then the others.

So please vote, and tell me which What-If you would want next! :D

What-If: Thunderbolts - Week 4

The following post is fictional. None of the new characters or events described actually happened.

---

Yaaaay! All the heroes are released! I managed to snag a picture by convincing several other players to participate. Pretty awesome, huh? This happened right before I was about to spin the prize wheel to get the gold for Scourge.

Speaking of Scourge... :P

I purchased both Scourge and Ghost, (completing more challenges helped me get both of them).

Now my Thunderbolts collection is complete! :D

SCOURGE

EXPLORATION

Scourge's first power emote!

Scourge is so fun to play as, I managed to get him up to level ten TODAY! It's weird, I kept getting invited to missions and I spent a hundred gold coins on two Hero Up potions, just to level him up. This means I can guarantee that Scourge is a great fighter, but we'll get to that in a moment. For now, I just want to say that his exploration is sub-par, but due to his cool factor, (like so many heroes), I barely noticed.

I give his EXPLORATION a 3.9/5!

FIGHTING

Scourge is underpowered, unlike most of the Thunderbolts released this month, but at least he's a sniper, which makes it a lot less boring. His Hero Up is the same as his first power emote, where he blasts the ground, causing a tiny earthquake.

I give his FIGHTING a 4.2/5!

COOL FACTOR

Scourge is pretty cool. I like his mask and his coat, but the detail is kind of hard to see.
I give his COOL FACTOR a 3.7/5!

GHOST

Yay! It's Ghost! Ghost is one of my favorite heroes in the comics, but how does he compare in the game? Find out below!

EXPLORATION

Ghost floats while he explores the zones, so that's kind of cool. He's like Sentry. Flight, floats, but no double jump. Oh well. Still, it's cool to glide around the zones. :)

I give his EXPLORATION a 4.1/5!

FIGHTING

Ghost can shoot enemies with his electric guns, turn invisible, and my favorite part is that his first power attack lets him hack into robotic enemies and force them to be his allies for a brief period. It's awesome, and I can't wait to see what his other power attacks are!! :D

I give his FIGHTING a 4.7/5!

COOL FACTOR

Ghost is pretty cool, but I would have liked to see a bit of transparency, like in the comics. Also, even though he's skinny, he should be at least 20% thinner. :P

I give his COOL FACTOR a 3.9/5!

Well, that wraps up the Thunderbolts month! I wonder what will come in the future?

What-If: Thunderbolts - Week 3

The following post is fictional. None of the new characters or events described actually happened.

---

Penance was released today! Along with... wait for it... the Crossbones mission! Yippee!

First of all, I apologize for not being correct in my predictions for this month. My new guess is that Scourge and Ghost will be released next week. Yay! Hope I have enough gold to buy both of them...

Anyway, on to Penance!

---

PENANCE

EXPLORATION

Penance actually has a double jump, which surprised me, but was welcome nonetheless. :D
As you would expect, running around the zones with him is pretty fun, especially because of his cool factor and the fact that he's a new hero.

I give his EXPLORATION a 3.5/5!

FIGHTING

Today I fought as Penance for the Crossbones mission. He's slightly overpowered, especially for a week three hero, but it sure was fun running around, slinging spikes at skull-faced henchmen!
His Hero Up, where he unleashes all his spikes at once on enemies is really awesome, and is pretty well ranged.

I give his FIGHTING a 4.9/5!

COOL FACTOR

While I could've used a little more detail, the SHSO version is faithful to the comics, and that's good enough for me. I also received many new friend requests while playing as him. I managed to get him to level five, and his second power emote shows his cat, Niels, which is a nice nod to the comics.

I give his COOL FACTOR a 4.1/5! :D

---

THE CROSSBONES MISSION

OVERVIEW: The Crossbones mission takes place in an airplane hangar, which I'm not sure what is referencing but is cool anyway. The henchmen are all either male or female Skull-faced baddies. I would've liked more variety, but at least they didn't put the Nameless Ones in THIS mission like they do in so many others. Yeesh. What really shines in this mission, I think, is the boss battle.

Crossbones can call in his henchmen to help you, like many bosses, (i.e. Kingpin, Annihilus), which makes the boss fight trickier. But Crossbones actually has two stages to his fight. In the first stage, he is a sniper, shooting from far away, and you have to dodge him. In the second round, he comes down to fight you in person, which is about as fun as you'd expect.

All-in-all, I give this mission a 7.2/10!
And kudos for placing the mission in a new setting, rather then recycling an old one.

So that's it for this week! Tune in next week to see my reviews of Scourge and maybe Ghost! :D

What If: Thunderbolts - Week 1

The following post is fictional. None of the new characters or events described actually happened.

---

Big news today! The new loading screen for the month of December is... the Thunderbolts!
I've been waiting for these guys to come out for a really long time, and I'll bet you were too, so let's get right to it, shall we?

First of all, right upon entering the store in SHSO I was greeted by Swordsman and Songbird, who were both released today! It looks like the Thunderbolts are being released two each week, or two things each week. I rigged up a little diagram here...

So my guess is that Radioactive Man and Ghost are next, since it seems like they're saving the best for last by getting Swordsman and Songbird out of the way. The third week is usually the time they release the mission, and my guess is that they'll wrap up the month with Scourge and Penance.

But ANYWAY... on to what you're probably waiting for... SWORDSMAN!

I was able to buy him and Songbird just as they came out, thanks to the power of buying gold. :P
I'm probably going to have to buy even more gold, since I'll want all the new Thunderbolts plus the new Crossbones mission. I don't really have the time to write two reviews for Swordsman and Songbird, but I can give brief reviews. I tested both of them out by doing a few missions today, so I'm ready to review.

SWORDSMAN

So you'd think Swordsman would be a boring, underpowered hero, right? WRONG!
He actually is pretty awesome. Not only does he have the "Hawkeye double jump", (it's a double jump without a flip), which makes running around missions with him more fun then it would be if he were a boring standard locomotion system hero. As far as fighting goes...

He's awesome! Apparently, Swordsman's sword can shoot out bioelectric energy, so he can take out large groups of enemies really easily. His Hero Up is a spinning attack that lets you guide him to damage enemies, like Jean Grey. (I know there's a hero that has a similar spinning attack, but I can't think of it right now).

Anyway, overall, I give Swordsman a 8.5/10! :D

SONGBIRD

Songbird was formerly known as Screaming Mimi, and Screaming Mimi actually appears in the SHS tv show. Anyway, I knew I had to get her too so I bit the bullet and purchased the gold necessary to buy her.

Songbird has some of the coolest attacks this game has to offer, creating objects out of thin air with the power of sound. Is it just me or is that awesome? Her hero up is especially impressive, a particularly loud scream that works well with large groups of enemies, however I prefer her first power emote better, where she creates wings out of solid sound and flaps them, blowing away enemies.

While I don't care much for her standard locomotion system, I'm happy to trade it for those awesome fighting moves!

I give Songbird a 9.7/10! :D

---

Well, that's it for this week! Tune in next week for my reviews of Radioactive Man and Ghost!
If it turns out that my prediction is right, of course. ;)
