You've Been Polled!

I polled you, you answered!
And now, a startling announcement. If you voted on something on this poll that wasn't as voted on by others, never fear! I am going to do ALL FOUR of those things on the poll in my new Thunderbolts What-if!

Remember, in the month of December, there will be a new Thunderbolts What-If post every week!
The outline is below.

Mondays will have a teaser post, Wednesdays will have the actual What-If post, and then Thursday will have the Behind the Scenes for that post!

No worries, just because the What-If is spread out over a month doesn't mean the posts will be lacking. They will all, individually be normal What-If length.

Tell me what you think of the schedule in the comments!

More News!

So there's a new developer blog post that mentions the X-men Rouge we saw in the mission image in my previous post, and that Havok will be making an appearance as well! There is also a sale going on that will end with the temporary absence of twelve heroes, namely American Dream, Captain America, Super Soldier, Classic Thor, Emma Frost, Gladiator Hulk, Luke Cage, Pure Elektra, Spider Girl, Spider Woman, Thor, Valkyrie and Wasp. I can understand this, after all the store is rather hard to navigate with all the heroes that have been coming out, so it makes sense that they'd try to get people to buy more gold while they simultaneously figure out how to make the store easier to navigate, seeing as lately it's kind of like a catalogue. However, I'm saddened by the chance of never seeing this heroes again, even though it's a slim chance and I'm willing to bet they'll be back by February. :P

Let's hope they come up with an awesome new way to peruse the store! :D

Indestructible Hulk Released!

I got into the game at last! Yay! And look who was waiting for me...
Indestructible Hulk! Unfortunately, he's Agents-Only, so I can't get him. :(

However, I CAN get the new mission, so I did.

You start the mission off with a greeting from a new Rouge, who looks awesome. I wonder when she'll be released, and if they're ever going to release Morbius?

Anyway...

So the whole mission is just you running through a subway, defeating various villains. It's actually pretty fun. I got the Crisis Edition, and I'm not sure how it differs from the normal version yet, but I died multiple times, so yes, it's hard.

OVERALL: I give this mission a 8/10!
You'de think running through the subway would get repetitive, but facing off against multiple villains adds variety.

Now I'm off to find three other players to play this mission with!

Crisis Edition Announced

I haven't gotten into the game yet today, so i have yet to play the Crisis Edition mission. I wonder what it means? In the meantime... rumors have been confirmed and Industructable Hulk is next in line to be released! Stay tuned for my playthrough of the mission, and more, coming soon on this blog!

What-If: Playable Villains - Behind the Scenes

What-Ifs are a special feature on this blog that show what would happen if certain things were in the game. I use my modeling and compositing skills to bring you a fully realized experience!

---

Alright, so it is time once again for a behind the scenes post! PLUS: More on the new What-If, Thunderbolts!

Again, refer to my older Behind the Scenes posts for some technical terminology, and just because they're fun to read. :P
I will be explaining new terms, though, so you don't have to worry. :)

Let's begin.

---

For Playable Villains, I was going to have a new loading screen, but I ended up cutting it because it looked, well, bad. Here's a picture of what it was going to look like:

There are a lot of new things in this What-If, and I'll go down the list. First off, I couldn't use Wasp as a compositing trick anymore. This time, I actually had to paint out the backgrounds.
My technique was the usual one other then that, except this time I increased the resolution of the images, because I noticed that in the actual game the models weren't as anti-aliased as I thought.

Second on the list is the new Facebook page image.

I used the Facebook Moon Knight teaser image to make the final result. I had to pull off a few tricks, and the final image isn't exactly the same, but it was close enough.

Another new thing that this What-If introduced was a new way for me to make the SHSO bodies. Instead of modeling the body as a whole, I now model the torso and waist, and then attach the hands and arms and legs separately.

And finally, this What-If introduced the shopping image, in the actual shop. Here's a comparison from my Batman What-If and my Playable Villains What-If.

The New

The Old

In a way, it was cheating to use a white background in my old What-if, seeing as making an image in the store is trickier. For the image, as first I tried to composite multiple images of heroes in the shop, trying to assemble a background for Carnage. Sadly, it didn't work entirely, so I had to make a star and use a few more compositing tricks to make the final image.

---

Well, I hope that explained any questions you may have had. If I missed something, tell me in the comments! And now, a tiny, tiny teaser for my upcoming, highly anticipated Thunderbolts What-If!

Yes, that's part of the loading screen! :D
Also, the new format for the Thunderbolts What-If is as follows: Every week in the month of December, new installments of the What-If will come out, and I'll report on them as I would if SHSO really released the Thunderbolts! For instance, in the first week of December, I'll release a teaser for Week 1 of the Thunderbolts What-If on Monday, the post on Wednesday, and a behind the scenes post on Thursday. This will continue until it all wraps up on Week 4.
Wow, has this What-If been a lot of work. I've modeled seven heroes and the villain AND his henchmen already. Now it's time for compositing. So look for the first teaser on the 3rd of December! :)

Good News and Bad News

Okay. It's probably not what you're thinking. But here goes: I've been working furiously on my Thunderbolts and Runaways What-If. Today I completed the Thunderbolts half. Looking online, I realized that the Runaways aren't really wearing costumes, which doesn't make them too fun to model. Also, it might be too much work to model five kids and a dinosaur, right after modeling six other characters. So, I decided not to model the Runaways. Now I'm faced with a problem. What should I do instead? I decided after some deliberation to model Crossbones, because I've always kind of wanted to model him. Also, there's a new poll! Feel free to vote. In the meantime, my other polls are finished.

So this was one of the polls, the other was about how I was going to write the What-If, and so now I'll have to think of something new! Sorry for not delivering more then two heroes after months since the first What-if. Hopefully my Civil War Thunderbolts What-If helps, with six new "heroes" and a mission! Plus, there's a new poll you can vote on-- what new thing would you like me to show in the Thunderbolts What-If? With each What-If, I try to show a new kind of image. For instance, in Playable Villains I showed a picture of SHSO's Official Facebook page, and pretended like they had announced Hobgoblin and Carnage like the way they announce all the other heroes. Don't worry, all of the ideas featured in that poll will eventually be shown.

Vote on the new poll in the sidebar!

I Got Into The Game

Whew.

Well, my computer stopped glitching up and I finally got in to the game. The first thing I noticed was that Halloween was over. It was about time, really.

Anyway, I didn't have enough gold to buy Tigra, (or anyone for that matter), but I got a picture of her in-store and a picture of her outside Peter Parker's house.

Don't worry, yesterday's promise that I was working on the Thunderbolts and Runaway's Civil War What-If was NOT empty! Also, there's a new poll in the sidebar!

Tigra's Release!

Today I noticed a teaser for Tigra on SHSO's Facebook page!

But sadly, I was trying to get into the game to at least get a picture of her in the store to show you guys and I couldn't get into the game because of some kind of bug that crashes Safari.

So all I have to show is this teaser. Drat.
Well... in the meantime I'm beginning work on my Civil War What-If, and a Behind the Scenes post for my Playable Villains What-If is coming soon as well.

A New Developer Post -- With A Clue!

I can't tell you how much I love these developer posts! :D
Okay, so the latest post was about how they are improving characters, you can read it by clicking this link, but what interested me was THIS interesting clue at the end of the post:

Of course, being the good samaritan I am, I decided to try and figure out who "In-" was.

Here's a list of all the heroes beginning with "In-". I'm pretty sure "In-" is a hero, but it could just as easily be a place. Anyway, I went through all the names, except IN-visible Woman (Girl), but I didn't find any likely candidates. Will you? You can see the list here and decide for yourself!

Moon Knight, Dracula and More!

YAAAY MOON KNIGHT! :D
I was waiting for Moon Knight ever since I saw that teaser for him one of those sneak peek images teasing upcoming characters-- which, by the way, I've never posted, so here they are:

Credit to the Comic Book Resources forum for the image. Moon Knight was teased in the first image, along with many more awesome heroes like Bishop, Grey Hulk, Iron Spider, Squirrel Girl, Odin? King Thor? and others.

Unfortunately, although my What-If below says otherwise, I don't have the gold to buy any more heroes. :(

That's why I'll be missing out on Werewolf by Night, who I'm sure will come back in a promo code in a card set or something. It's kind of sad, because the reason I saved my gold in the first place was to get Moon Knight, but I now I can't get him. It's a little ironic. :P

Anyway, I DID get the new mission, (I had enough gold for that), so here's somewhat review!

Morbius is teased here, my guess is that he'll be released towards the end of this month, hopefully. :D

Fighting the hordes of zombies as Cable. They seemed a bit too large a crowd for me, but it sure was an interesting challenge! It makes me wish they would increase rewards even more.

The Count himself! I was sure they were going to go for the garlic joke... sadly, they didn't.

Dracula makes several references to the original Bela Lugosi film, like wiggling his fingers.
He's not the most difficult boss, but it may take a few tries to get an Adamantium on this mission.

I give the mission a 7.54/10! :D

---

Well, I'm glad my 100th post has been written and is done with. I'm also glad that now I get to model a million characters for the upcoming Civil War What-If! I promise it'll be even more awesome then Playable Villains was. :D

Stay tuned! :D

SHSO What-If: Playable Villains in SHSO!

What if, in SHSO, you had the option of playing as villains as well as heroes? If so, what villains would come out around Halloween? Well, let's find out...

So today I noticed that on Super Hero Squad Online's Facebook page there were two mysterious teasers for the promised upcoming "Month of the Villains", where we finally will be able to play as the villains as well as heroes! I hadn't been able to log in yesterday, there was a huge amount of lag, but today I just had to get in to see the new characters so I tried over and over again and finally succeeded.
The new characters were available in the store, and I bought both of them to review for this blog...

So let's see, it's time for a Hero Review of Carnage. You'll notice he's already level five. That's because I played three missions with him as well as got all his hero tokens. I also had a few left over Hero Up potions for Hobgoblin and him, and I just HAD to see his second emote.

---

So, yeah, Carnage. Pretty scary for a kid-friendly game, but they toned him down a lot like they did with Punisher.

EXPLORATION

Carnage has one of the coolest set-ups in the game right now, one of my favorites if not my favorite.
He doesn't have a double jump or anything but what stands out is his "flight."
He flies by shooting those spider-venom strands out of his hands and pulling himself up onto buildings.

It's really unique and makes you look really cool.

I give his EXPLORATION a 4.7/5! :D

FIGHTING

I didn't get a picture of him fighting, sadly. The game was too laggy today and I thought that if i took a picture it might crash. BUT ANYWAY... his fighting style resembles Spiderman's a lot, but a bit faster. It's generally unimpressive, and though his Hero Up is unique, (strands of venom-webbing slither out of him and wrap enemies in cocoons), it takes a bit too long for my taste.

I give his FIGHTING a 3.9/5!

COOL FACTOR

Carnage makes a frightening sight roaming the city, and his unique mode of EXPLORATION is pretty cool. He has a funny and pretty cool second power emote where he writes, "Carnage Rules!" on the ground. His overall look could still use some work, though.

I give his COOL FACTOR a 4/5! :D

OVERALL: Overall, Carnage could use some work, but he is a good, solid choice for fans of the new "Month of the Villains" theme SHSO is going for.

---

And now a somewhat shorter review of Hobgoblin, (my computer crashed while I was taking pictures of him so there aren't too many pictures).

EXPLORATION

Hobgoblin, like Carnage, can not jump, but he can fly using his glider. It's fun, and feels faster then it really is.

I give his EXPLORATION a 4.7/5! :D

FIGHTING

I only got in one mission with Hobgoblin, but it was enough to tell that he will be fun to max, just because of his fighting style. He throws pumpkin bombs, weird ghost-type things that explode into nets, and all sorts of other tricks. His Hero Up, where he flies around on his glider, smashing into people, is awesome, fast and powerful.

I give his FIGHTING a 4.5/5! :D

COOL FACTOR

Hobgoblin isn't the coolest villain around, and I would have preferred it if he could be on his glider the whole time, like Silver Surfer.

I give his COOL FACTOR a 2.5/5!

Well, I guess that wraps up my reviews for today.
Tune in next week when the "Month of the Villains" continues, this time with playable versions of Sandman and Apocalypse! :D

---

So hi again, this time in the real world! I'm sorry this What-If took so long to complete, I had a ton of other projects, I was busy, etc. I'm glad you guys voted the What-If on my "What Should My 100th Post Be About?" poll, otherwise I might have never been spurred into action!

In other news, I got my other poll voted on as well... looks like I have my work set out for me, modeling, texturing, rendering and compositing the Thunderbolts and Runaways!

Look for the awesome Behind the Scenes of this What-If soon!
Also, today I'll be releasing a review of the new mission, Creatures of the Night!

So yeah, sorry for the lapse in news, I'll try to catch up with everything that's REALLY going on in Super Hero City!

Bye for real!
